How It Works
Step 1 Your Photo
Please email me a high resolution image of your pet (or a number of which you are choosing from). The image(s) must be clear so that I can see detail, especially your pet's facial features. I can make some changes to the image in the final result but I cannot combine multiple images together.
Step 2 Size and Medium
Choose the size you'd like as well as the medium: Oil paint, charcoal, charcoal and white chalk on brown or grey paper or pencil.
Step 3 Specify
Choose between a full painting, a full drawing, a painting sketch or a drawing sketch:
Full paintings are fully developed paintings with a lot of detail and accuracy. They have a finished look to them as more time is spent making them. They can be painted on:
Stretched linen canvas, oil primed ACM panel or oil primed linen ACM panel (the panel with linen canvas glued on to give that canvas feel and texture).
What is ACM Panel?
An aluminum composite panel consisting of two aluminum sheets laminated to both sides of a polyethylene core. The panel is 3mm thick making it easy to frame. It is very a durable and long-lasting with minimal expansion and contraction in different temperatures. For this reason, it is one of the most stable supports to use for oil painting.
Painting Sketches are essentially sketches done in oil paint. They are typically done on oil primed ACM panels in smaller sizes. They are more painterly/have less detail and really sum up the essence of the subject.
Full Drawings are fully developed pencil, charcoal or charcoal and chalk drawings with a lot of detail and accuracy. They have a finished look to them as more time is spent making them. They can be drawn on: white, brown or grey paper.
Drawing Sketches are done on paper with charcoal, charcoal and white chalk or pencil. They are looser drawings with less detail and really sum up the essence of the subject.
Step 4 Order Specs
Please let me know if you need your piece by a certain date. For oil paintings, please allow for at least a month before completion as they take a long time to dry and may require varnishing. Working time for each artwork varies based on complexity of the piece and my current work load. Please let me know if shipping will be required.*
Step 5 Deposit & Agreement
A 50% deposit is required to secure your commission. Payment can be made via Paypal, check or cash if you live locally. Please make checks out to Laianna Ferruggia. I also have a commission agreement form that I will tailor to our agreeable terms that we both will sign before the commission is started.
Step 6 Artwork Completion
Once your piece is completed, I will email you a photo of it for your approval. If any small alterations need to be made, I am happy to make them at no additional cost. If changes that are significantly different from the original order are requested, there may be an additional charge.
Step 7 Final Payment and Delivery
After the final payment is complete, I will arrange for the shipping or delivery/pick up of your piece if you live locally.
*I do offer payment plans allowing you some flexibility. Please inquire for more information.
*Shipping is not included. Cost will be estimated and then added to invoice before final payment.

The Artist reserves the common-law copyright to all works commissioned by the Client that are created by the Artist, including all reproduction rights and the right to claim statutory copyright. No artwork may be reproduced by the Client or any third party without prior written approval of the Artist.

*These prices are specifically for pet portrait commissions. A price range is given for each size as one piece may have more detail and or figures/subjects than another at the same size. Please inquire for additional sizes.
